Do You Suffer From Acid Reflux?

1 out of 3 people suffer from Acid Reflux or stomach issues

1 out of 3? That is crazy! I remember hearing years ago that 1:4 women suffer from breast cancer, and that haunted me. Hearing this statistic about stomach issues had the same affect on me. Why are so many people suffering?

Becoming a health coach and learning about diseases that plague us, and where I could help people…this kind of article elevates the need for helping people.

Acid reflux happens when your food is coming back up the esophagus creating an uncomfortable feeling in the chest. Factors contributing to this include eating patterns, weight gain, and less physical activity.

If you or a loved one is suffering from Acid Reflux or GERD, here are some suggestions:

→ Eat dinner on the early side, at least 2 hours before bed to give yourself time to digest.

→ Eat smaller portions.

→ Get rid of fried foods and highly processed foods! Goodbye to those greasy burgers and french fries. (They may fill you up and taste amazing — but how do you feel after?)

→ Load up on the vegetables and healthy fats such as wild-caught fish, olive oil, dark chocolate and nuts.

→ Portion Control your meals. Eat smaller portions more often.

→ Go to a heavier plant based plan. Plant based proteins are not broken down as easily in the stomach, and thus reduce the amount of acid that is produced.

Getting stomach problems is manageable — and you will feel less stressed once you get it under control! Remember that changing a habit is easy to do — it just takes will power and self-control!
